½ Elephant Apple
100 gms Red Lentils/ Masur Dal
3-4 gloves of garlic
2-3 tbspn Oil
2-3 slited green chillies
½ tbspn turmeric powder
Salt as per taste

In a cooker, add oil. Once heated, add garlic pods and fry gently
Once garlic pods are fried, add crushed elephant apple.
Add the pulses, salt, turmeric, green chillies & lightly fry.
Add 2 cups of water & give 3-4 four whistles.
Once cool, serve with rice
Note: Since Elephant apple is a sour fruit exclusively found in Northeast, You can add 1 lime juice instead of Elephant Apple to give sourness to the dal.
